How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Fresno? 2026 Price Guide

2026 prices by load size, what changes the price, and the free City of Fresno options to try first.

Garage in Fresno with trash bags and shelving waiting to be hauled away

Quick answer

Most Fresno junk removal jobs cost between about $80 and $850. One or two bulky items usually run $80–$160, a small load $150–$375, a half truck $400–$550 and a full truck $600–$850 or more. Price depends mostly on how much space your stuff takes up, how heavy it is, and whether it includes items like mattresses, tires or TVs that cost extra to dispose of.

Ranges are from Fresno junk removal price lists and booking sites, checked October 2026. Your exact price depends on the job.

If you're staring at a garage, back bedroom or side yard full of stuff, the first question is usually "what is this going to cost me?" The second is "is there a cheaper way?" This guide answers both for Fresno: what local junk removal actually costs in 2026, what changes the price, and the free City of Fresno options worth trying before you pay anyone, including us.

Fresno junk removal prices by load size

Almost every junk hauler in Fresno prices by volume: how much of the truck or trailer your items fill. Here's what published Fresno prices look like in 2026:

Typical Fresno junk removal prices, 2026
Job sizeWhat it looks likeTypical price
Single itemOne couch, mattress, dresser or appliance$80–$160
Small loadA few pieces of furniture or a small pile of boxes$150–$375
Half loadA one-car garage, a few rooms, a small estate$400–$550
Full loadA packed two-car garage or whole-house cleanout$600–$850+

Prices include loading and hauling. Disposal fees for heavy debris and special items can be extra. Ranges come from Fresno-area price lists and booking sites checked October 2026.

Big cleanouts like estates, hoarded homes or eviction properties can take more than one load, so they're usually quoted after someone walks the property.

What changes the price of junk removal in Fresno

1. How much space it takes up

This is the big one. A single recliner and a whole garage are different jobs, even if both take an hour. The fastest way to get a real number is to describe the pile, or have someone look at it in person.

2. How heavy it is

Landfills and transfer stations charge by weight. Fresno County's American Avenue landfill, for example, charges $29.52 a ton for general refuse, and dense loads add up fast (county fee schedule, effective July 1, 2026). That's why concrete, dirt, roofing and drywall often cost more than the same pile of furniture.

3. Special items

Some things can't go in a regular load and have their own disposal fees or recycling rules:

  • Mattresses and box springs: recycled through California's mattress program (see mattress removal).
  • Tires: charged per tire ($2.51 for a car tire at the county landfill; see tire removal).
  • TVs, monitors and electronics: banned from the trash in California and taken to e-waste recyclers (see e-waste and TV removal).
  • Refrigerators, freezers and AC units: the refrigerant has to be recovered first (see appliance removal).
  • Hot tubs: have to be cut into sections to fit through a side gate (see hot tub removal).

4. Access and labor

Items at the curb are quicker than a sectional coming down a flight of stairs, a piano out of a back room, or a 500-pound safe. Long carries, tight hallways and disassembly all add time.

5. Where you are

Fresno and Clovis are short drives for most haulers. Farther towns like Coalinga, Porterville or Delano may carry a trip charge on very small jobs. See the towns we serve.

Self-haul to the landfill

Not a city resident, or missed the free weekend? You can take a load to the county's American Avenue Disposal Site (18950 W. American Ave., Kerman; Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) and pay by weight: $9.45 minimum for loads up to 640 pounds, $29.52 a ton for general refuse, and $2.51 per passenger-car tire. Uncovered loads add an $8 fee, so tarp it. It's out past Kerman, so count the drive and gas.

Haul it yourself or hire someone?

DIY vs. hiring a junk removal company in Fresno
Do it yourselfHire a hauler
Best forA few items that fit the city's rulesBig jobs, heavy items, things the city won't take
CostFree to a small dump fee, plus truck and gasAbout $80–$850+ depending on size
TimeDays to weeks of waiting for a pickup dateOften same day
LiftingYou and whoever you can talk into helpingThe crew does all of it
Fridges, tires, TVsSeparate trips to separate placesOne trip, sorted and recycled

A rough rule: if it fits in your own truck and the city takes it, do it yourself. If you'd need to rent a truck, take two days off, or make three trips to three different drop-off sites, hiring someone usually costs about the same and saves your back.

7 ways to lower your junk removal bill in Fresno

  1. Use the free city pickup first for one big item, if you're a City of Fresno trash customer.
  2. Haul hazardous waste yourself to the county drop-off for free. Haulers can't take it anyway.
  3. Donate or sell what's still good. Less volume means a lower price.
  4. Break down boxes and bag loose stuff. Flat cardboard takes far less space.

  7. Clear a path. Easy access means a faster, cheaper job.

Where can I get rid of a mattress in Fresno for free?

Can I throw a TV or old electronics in the trash in Fresno?

No. California law bans TVs, monitors and most electronics from household trash, and the city's bulky pickup and free dump days don't take them. Use a Fresno County household hazardous waste or e-waste drop-off site, or have a junk removal company take them to an e-waste recycler.

Is it cheaper to haul junk myself?

For a few items you can fit in your own truck, usually yes, especially with the city's free options. For a full garage, heavy items, stairs, or things the city won't take like fridges, tires and electronics, hiring a hauler often costs about the same once you count truck rental, dump fees and your time.
